We give so much of ourselves to our jobs, families and people around us, sometimes we forget to center ourselves. Forgetting to take much needed time for ourselves. Look inward, reach inward and be self centered every once and a while.


My Story

My name is Jennifer. I sort of like to refer to myself as a"urban hippie". I am a stay at home mom to a 5 and 3 year old. I'm a yogi, vegetarian, healthy food believer and overall want to make the planet better when I can sort of person. I'm also a rigwife, heavy weight lifting, macro counting city dweller. I like a little of both worlds.

I was always sort of into healthy eating. With what I thought was healthy eating. I've been a vegetarian for 20 years and always had to be conscious of what was in my food. After our first daughter was born, I got really into nutrition more. I wanted to make sure our daughter was getting good nutrition, and start good habits myself to be an example for her. I started researching, buying books and trying different things in the kitchen. Don't ever ask my husband or father about the chickpea cookies. We don't speak of those. I'm currently working on my sports nutrition certification, with plans in the future to do holistic nutrition.  

I started to get into running when our first was about 4 months old. It eventually lead up to me completing a half marathon at 7 weeks pregnant with our second. After our second daughter was born, I fell in love with fitness. She was a colic baby and my release after finally getting her to sleep was heading downstairs to the treadmill and running out the insanity. I ran away my post partum depression, literally.

I reached my weight goal and realized my body still wasn't the "shape" I was after. Stopped cardio and started lifting weights. I tried high rep, low rep, full body workouts, body part day concentration splits etc. As I did with nutrition, I have fallen in love with fitness. Always researching, trying new things, buying books and so on. I even competed in my first bikini competition this past fall. Hopeful plans for 2015 are to start taking personal training.

I believe my passions for health and fitness stem from yoga originally. I started yoga about 10 years ago. I started with Bikram hot yoga and id only that up until bout 4 years ago. Since then I've opened my yogi wings and do and try all types. This past December I graduate from Empowered Yoga's 200 HR Yoga Teacher training. Now I get to really share my love of yoga with everyone. 

I used to be a hairdresser. I suppose I still sort of am in a mini salon we built in my basement, but nothing crazy. I really enjoy the friendships and making people feel great after a new "doo". Maybe where my passion for sharing nutrition, fitness and yoga stem from originally? Who knows!
